Rangpur division records 8.28pc Covid-19 positivity rate


 
RANGPUR, Sept 19, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 8.28 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 26 fresh cases were reported today after testing 314 new samples at two laboratories in the division.
 
“The overall Covid-19 situation is improving constantly in the division in the last one and a half months,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui said.
   
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 5.14 percent on Saturday, 7.39 percent on Friday, 3.36 percent on Thursday, 6.29 percent on Wednesday, 6.01 percent on Tuesday and 5.50 percent on Monday last in the division.
 
Among the 26 new patients, 13 were reported positive after diagnosing 123 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 10.32 percent today.
 
“The 13 new Covid-19 infected patients include eight from Rangpur, two each from Kurigram and Nilphamari and one from Gaibandha districts,” Acting Principal of RpMC Professor Dr Md Mahfuzer Rahman told BSS at 5:25 pm.
 
On the other hand, 13 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 6.91 percent today.
 
“The 13 new Covid-19 infected patients include eight from Dinajpur, three from Thakurgaon and two from Panchagarh and districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
 
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 54,590 as 26 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
 
“The district-wise break up of total 54,590 patients include 12,329 of Rangpur, 3,707 Panchagarh, 4,373 of Nilphamari, 2,719 of Lalmonirhat, 4,612 of Kurigram, 7,449 of Thakurgaon, 14,568 of Dinajpur and 4,833 of Gaibandha in the division,” he added.
