3.76pc Covid-19 positivity recorded in Rangpur division

  RANGPUR, Sept 16, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 3.76 percent

Covid-19 positivity rate as 14 fresh cases were reported today after testing
372 new samples at two laboratories in the division.

     "The overall Covid-19 situation is improving constantly in the division
in the last six weeks," said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director
(Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui.

     Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 6.29 percent on Wednesday, 6.01
percent on Tuesday, 5.50 percent on Monday, 5.43 percent on Sunday, 8.59
percent on Saturday and 8.18 percent on Friday last in the division.

     Among the 14 new patients, four were reported positive after diagnosing
184 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC)
in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 2.17 percent
today.

     "The four new Covid-19 infected patients include two from Rangpur, one
each from Kurigram and Nilphamari districts," Principal of RpMC Professor Dr
AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:50 pm.

     On the other hand, 10 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC)
in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 5.32 percent today.

     "The 10 new Covid-19 infected patients include six from Dinajpur and two
each from Panchagarh and Thakurgaon districts," Principal of MARMC Professor
Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.

     Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said
the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 54,369 as 14 new positive cases were
reported today from across the division.

     The district-wise break up of total 54,369 patients include 12,287 of
Rangpur, 3,679 Panchagarh, 4,365 of Nilphamari, 2,717 of Lalmonirhat, 4,600
of Kurigram, 7,413 of Thakurgaon, 14,486 of Dinajpur and 4,822 of Gaibandha
districts in the division.
