Rangpur division records 3.21pc Covid-19 positivity rate

  RANGPUR, Sept 14, 2021 (BSS) - Rangpur division recorded 3.21 percent

Covid-19 positivity rate as 12 fresh cases were reported today after testing
374 new samples at two laboratories in the division.

  "The Covid-19 situation is improving consistently in the division during
the last five weeks," said Dr ZA Siddiqui, focal person of Covid-19 and
assistant director (Health) for Rangpur division.

  Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 5.50 percent on Monday, 5.43
percent on Sunday, 8.59 percent on Saturday, 8.18 percent on Friday, 10.37
percent on Thursday and 7.07 percent on Wednesday last in the division.

  Among the 12 new patients, seven were reported positive after diagnosing
186 new samples at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC)Covid-19 Laboratory in
Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 3.76 percent today.

  "The seven new Covid-19 infected patients include three each from Rangpur
and Kurigram and one from Lalmonirhat districts," Principal of RpMC Professor
Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 5:50 pm.

  On the other hand, five new patients were reported after diagnosing 188
samples at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) Covid-19 Laboratory in
Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 2.66 percent today.

  "Among the five new Covid-19 infected patients, two from Dinajpur and three
from Thakurgaon districts," Principal of MARMC Prof Dr Syed Nazir Hossain
said.

  Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the
number of Covid-19 patients rose to 54,263 as 12 new positive cases were
reported today from across the division.

  "The district-wise break-up of the total 54,263 patients are now stands at
12,275 in Rangpur, 3,661 in Panchagarh, 4,358 in Nilphamari, 2,716 in
Lalmonirhat, 4,592 in Kurigram, 7,383 in Thakurgaon, 14,459 in Dinajpur and
4,819 in Gaibandha," he added.
