RANGPUR, Sept 4, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur division recorded 9.68 percent Covid-19 positivity rate as 36 fresh cases were reported after testing 372 new samples at two laboratories in the division on Saturday.
“The Covid-19 situation is significantly improving in recent weeks in the division,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr ZA Siddiqui.
Earlier, the daily positivity rates were 6.88 on Friday, 12.60 percent on Saturday, 12.04 percent on Wednesday, 12.08 percent on Tuesday, 16.05 percent on Monday and 11.66 percent on Sunday last in the division
Among the 36 new patients, 19 were reported positive after diagnosing 184 new samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city at the highest ever daily positivity rate of 10.33 percent today.
“The 19 new patients include 13 from Rangpur, four from Lalmonirhat and one each from Kurigram and Dinajpur districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 6:45 pm.
On the other hand, 17 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur at the daily positivity rate of 9.04 percent today.
“The 17 new Covid-19 infected patients include 13 from Dinajpur, three from Thakurgaon and one from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr Syed Nazir Hossain said.
Talking to BSS, Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Motaharul Islam said the number of Covid-19 patients rose to 53,576 as 36 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.
“The district-wise break up of 53,576 patients stands at 12,184 in Rangpur, 3,516 in Panchagarh, 4,328 in Nilphamari, 2,682 in Lalmonirhat, 4,537 in Kurigram, 7,250 in Thakurgaon, 14,334 in Dinajpur and 4,744 in Gaibandha of the division,” he added.
