Programme on “Colorful Yunnan” held in Dhaka 

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2022 (BSS) - Yunnan province of China, which is the nearest Chinese part close to Bangladesh, possesses high potentials for expanding trade and commerce between the two countries. 

Besides, the natural beauty of the Yunnan province also easily attracts the tour-loving people of Bangladesh.

The speakers highlighted the natural beauties and business importance at a Programme titled “Colourful Yunnan” organized jointly by the Embassy of China to Bangladesh, Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Yunnan Province and Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in Dhaka held at Bangabandhu Bangladesh- China Friendship Exhibition Center (BBCFEC) in the capital.

The event coincided with “Celebrating 73 years of the National Day of People's Republic of China” through demonstration of beautiful aesthetic and lifestyle products of the province.

The culture and heritage, natural beauty, flowers, organic foods and many other products of the province were showcased at the event.

Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, State Minister for Cultural Affairs K M Khalid said, “Around 80 per cent land of Yunnan is hill-based. Thousands of varieties of flowers are being cultivated in the province. So, the natural beauties of the province easily attract the tour-loving people.”

There is also a lot of scope to improve economic relations between Bangladesh and China, he said.

Li Jiming, Ambassador of China to Bangladesh, said, “The ‘Colorful Yunnan’ is an enjoyable moment for us. The distance between Bangladesh and Yunnan is not too much and it takes only two hours by air.”

“There is also a scope to improve commercial relationship between Bangladesh and Yunnan. We also want to increase cooperation in education, health, food, tourism and exchange of cultural visits,” he added.

Governor of Yunnan Province Wang Yubo, Chargé 
d'affaires of the Embassy of Bangladesh in China, Dr Mohammad Nazrul 
Islam, Director of Yunnan Commercial Representative Office in Bangladesh Li Xiao, among others, spoke at the event.
