Stocks maintain gaining streak

DHAKA, Sept 21, 2021 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), today also witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 52.75 points or 0.73 per cent to settle at 7,258.57. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips, and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 24.56 points to finish at 2,685.99 and 16.89 points closing at 1,586.97.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 19,100.34 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 17,625.65 million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 376 issues traded, 224 closed green, 117 in the red and 35 remained unchanged on the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Beximco Pharma, ALIF, LHBL and Saif Power.

PDL was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 9.87 per cent while RELIANCE1 was the worst loser, losing 6.30 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 210.49 points to settle at 21,240.49 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 125.73 points to close at 12,746.01.

Of the issues traded, 194 advanced, 100 declined and 33 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 2.42 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 70.29 crore.
