Netrakona farmers busy with transplanting T-Aman rice seedlings

NETRAKONA, July 30, 2021 (BSS) - Farmers are now passing busy times with rowing Transplanted   Aman (T-Aman) rice seedlings on their farm lands in the district.

They are rendering their field-level service on lands following health guidelines amid the Covid-19 pandemic situation with a view to meet their food demands as well as to ensure food security of the country.

Officials of department of agricultural extension (DAE) Netrakona said a target has been designed here to produce over 3.50 lakhs metric tons of clean Aman rice from 1,30,760 hectors of land in the district during the current Aman season.

According to the production target, 13,742 metric tonnes of hybrid varieties of the Aman rice will be produced from 3,560 hectors of land, 3,01,608 metric tonnes of high yielding varieties (HYV) Aman rice from 1,06,200 hectors of land and 33,390 metric tonnes of local varieties Aman rice from 21,000 hectors of land.

Meanwhile, the farmers have  prepared the Aman rice  seed beds on 7,222 hectors of land against the target of preparing seed beds on 6,852 hectors in the district, the DAE officials  said.

The Aman growers have already completed transplantation of Aman seedlings on over five thousands hectors of land.
The transplantation of Aman rice seedlings is progressing rapidly in the district as the district is experiencing adequate rainfall during the last fortnight, the DAE officials added.

 Talking to the BSS, deputy director of the DAE, SM Mubarak Ali said at the directives of the government,  different state-run agencies including BADC and BCIC  has ensured proper supply of adequate quantity of improved quality Aman seeds, fertilizers and different irrigation and agricultural equipment  among the Aman growers.

The state-run banks including Bangladesh Krishi Banks have also distributed crop loans to the farmers for helping them run their Aman cultivation network without financial problems.

Apart from these, the government has already distributed 20.9 tonnes improved quality Aman seeds , 6.1 tonnes of DAP fertilizers and 4.9 metric of MOP fertilizers as incentives among the  4,900 small and marginal farmers under its agriculture incentive program, Ali said.

The government also supplied seven tonnes of improved quality Aman seeds to the 1400 small and marginal cultivators of the district as incentive under the government’s agriculture rehabilitation program, the deputy director added.
