T-Aman transplantation nearing completion in Narsingdi

   NARSINGDI Sept 10, 2021 (BSS) - Transplantation of Transplanted Aman (T-Aman) seedling is nearing completion in all the six upazilas of the district and the target fixed by the agriculture department might be exceeded this season.

   Deputy Director, Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), Narsingdi Shovon Kumar Dhar told BSS on Wednesday in his office.

   According to field level reporting collected by the DAE, a total of 42,180 hectares of land have been brought under Aman cultivation against the target of 42508 hectares in six upazilas of the district.

   He said that the target fixed by the department might exceeded as a good number of farmers living on river basins Sadar and Raipura upazilas would cultivate late variety Aman faddy on their char land just after receding the water from the char.

   Meanwhile, the transplanted seedlings of Aman paddy grown well and the paddy fields have turned greenish. The growers are now busy to nurturing the paddy fields with the hopes of getting desired production of the crops this season.

   The deputy director said Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation distributed high quality Aman seeds to the farmers of the district at fair price.

   He said availability of fertilizers, insecticides and other necessary agri-inputs has been ensured the farmers of the district during the current Aman season.

   Besides, different state-run commercial Bank disbursed agricultural loan on easy term to the poor and marginal farmers.
