Twelve shops gutted at Baura Bazar in Lalmonirhat

RANGPUR, Sept 29, 2018 (BSS) – Twelve business shops were gutted in a
devastating fire at Baura Bazar in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district in
the morning today, police said.

Station Officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense Station Montazur Rahman
said the fire erupted from a shop in the Bazar following electric short
circuit at 7:30 am and engulfed 11 other adjoining shops.

“Being informed, Fire Service and Civil Defense personnel from Patgram and
Hatibandha Stations and police forces from Patgram Thana rushed to the spot
and doused the blaze in an hour with the assistance of local people,” he
said.

Patgram Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Abdul Karim, Officer-in-Charge of
Patgram Thana Arzoo Mohammad Sajjad and other officials and local public
representatives visited the spot and talked to the traders of Baura Bazar,
whose shops were gutted.

Talking to local reporters, the UNO said that the process of assessing
damages of properties has already started and steps would be taken to assist
the victim traders so that they could restart their businesses as soon as
possible.
