President asks elites to contribute to haor development
MITHAMAIN, Kishoreganj, Sept 26, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today urged the elites in the society to contribute to the development of country’s haor areas.
“Development is universal . . . so you have to work jointly to develop the haor areas along with the national progress,” he told a view-exchange meeting with eminent persons including local leaders, professionals and district level officials at Rastropati Abdul Hamid Auditorium here.
The President asked the elected representatives and all concerned to reach benefit of the development made by the present government at grassroots.
The head of the state is now visiting his ancestral village of Mithamain upazila of Kishoreganj after visiting Austagram and Itna since September 24.
President Hamid said the present government has been working for overall development of the country and mass people including the remote and haor people are enjoying benefit of the development.
Responding to demands of the people, he said that he gave a salient feature of development in the haor region. “I’m trying my level best to change the life and livelihood of haor people. I need your cooperation to this end.”
“Since my student life, the motto of my doing politics was only to develop the haor areas as well as the countrymen,” he added.
Local lawmaker Engineer Rezwan Ahammad Taufiq, senior political leaders and secretaries concerned to the Bangabhaban, among others, were present on the occasion.
