Work together for sustainable development: President

ITNA, Kishoreganj, Sept 25, 2018 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today
urged local leaders, eminent personalities and government officials to work
together to ensure sustainable development at marginal level.

“You have to work together to ensure sustainable national progress apart
from sustaining local development,” he said while exchanging views with local
leaders, professionals and district level officials at Rastropati Abdul Hamid
auditorium in Itna.

The President, who is now on a five-day visit to Kishoreganj, held the
view-exchange meeting with local leaders and other personalities of Itna
upazila.

Two local leaders of Itna spoke at the meeting and placed their various
demands.

Giving a patient hearing, Abdul Hamid assured them of providing all-out
assistances for ensuring the development of haor region as well as the
country.

He also urged all to extend their hands of cooperation to materialise the
‘Digital Bangladesh’ concept of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Referring to different development initiatives taken at local level, the
President directed the leaders and workers of all political parties to remain
alert so that no development establishment is damaged due to negligence of
any one.

Recalling his long-political career, the President said: “The prime motto
of my politics was only to develop the haor region”.

He said Bangladesh has already experienced tremendous development in all
sectors, including power and infrastructure, and this development eventually
reaches at the grassroots.

“Itna, Austagram and Mithamain got uninterrupted electricity supply right
now due to the blessings of the Awami League government, led by Prime
Minister Sheikh Hasina, after 1996,” Abdul Hamid said.
