DHAKA, Nov 28, 2017 (BSS) – A two-day ‘High Level Meeting on Achieving Sustainable Graduation for the LDCs’ begins in the city tomorrow aimed at strengthening the understanding of the technicalities of the graduation criteria and the process.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and Under- Secretary-General and High Representative, UN-OHRLLS Fekitamoeloa Katoa ‘Utoikamanu, will join the opening ceremony at Sonargaon Hotel, a foreign ministry statement said here today.
High government representatives from the LDCs including Bangladesh, UN officials, academia, civil societies and think tanks from home and abroad will participate in the meeting.
The high level meeting will also assess an in-depth realization of the potential costs and challenges associated with LDC and creating synergies in realizing SDGs and a sustainable graduation.
The meeting will also provide a platform for knowledge sharing between recently graduated LDCs and those about to graduation.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith will remain present at the closing ceremony of the meeting as the chief guest with Foreign Secretary Md Shahidul Haque in the chair.
