Sheikh Hasina University Bill, 2017 placed in JS

SANGSAD BHABAN, Nov 21, 2017 (BSS) – The Sheikh Hasina University Bill, 2017 was placed today in the Jatiya Sangsad with an aim to set up an university for creating an opportunity of enhancing modern knowledge practice and impression on various affairs.

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid placed the bill in the House this evening with Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Under the proposed bill, the Education ministry will take an initiative to establish an university at Netrokona district in light with the announcement made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Placing the bill, Nahid told the Jatiya Sangsad that estalblishment of “Sheikh Hasina University, Bangladesh” is very much necessary and rational for transforming the country into developed one with a specific time by creating new entrepreneurs, enhancing employment in the information technology sector at home and abroad through business incubators of the university, adding that the university will help advance the education, research, training and extension programme at graduate and post-graduate level on different affairs of the higher education.”

The education minister later proposed the house to send the bill to the parliamentary standing committee on Education Ministry for providing its report after further scrutiny for 45 days.
