DHAKA, Nov 19, 2017 (BSS)-Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed has sought duty free market access of Bangladesh products to Brazil to minimize the trade gap between the two countries.

He made the call when Brazilian ambassador to Bangladesh Joao Tabajara De Oliveira junior called on him at his secretariat office here today.

Tofail said Bangladesh imported goods worth $1152.20 million from Brazil against its export of $115.64 million in fiscal year 2016-17 (FY17).

Bangladesh mainly imports sugar and cotton from Brazil while it exports garments, footwear, medicines and ceramics.

The commerce minister also urged the Brazilian entrepreneurs to invest in Bangladesh, saying that foreign investments in Economic Zones (EZs) get equity facility.
