Information Ministry to protect 7th March speech as UNESCO heritage

DHAKA, Nov 06, 2017 (BSS)- The Information Ministry today held a meeting to conserve the historic 7th March speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman recognized by UNESCO as part of world’s documentary heritage.

The meeting was presided over by Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu while Information Secretary Mortuza Ahmed conducted it.

The programmes proposed in the meeting included honoring those who were related to the recording of the speech and those who were involved in its recognition as an UNESCO documentary heritage.

Simultaneously the initiative would involve honoring those who were involved with broadcasting the program on “Swadhin Bangla Betar” during the Liberation War. It also decided to produce interviews and other creative programs for its publicity.

The meeting also decided to produce three-dimensional films, books and posters to protect the heritage.

The Mass Communication Directorate and Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) were asked to play a pioneering role in it.

The meeting was attended by chief editor and managing director of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Abul Kalam Azad, director general of BTV S M Harun-or-Rashid and other departmental heads under the ministry of information.
