Beat policing activities begin in Gaibandha

GAIBANDHA, Nov 5, 2017 (BSS) – Beat policing activities of district police started in Sadar upazila on Saturday amid much enthusiasm.

An inaugural function was held at Mitali Bazaar of ward no. 9 under Gaibandha Municipality in the afternoon at the arrangement of Gaibandha Sadar police Station on the occasion.

Superintendent of police (SP) M. Mashrukur Rahman Khaled addressed the function as the chief guest and Mayor of Gaibandha Muncipality Advocate Shah Masud Zahangir Kabir Milon was preset as the special guest.

The objectives of beat policing are to strengthen police-public relationship, increase the effectiveness of police service, ensure quick police service, and prevent crimes in the society, the SP said.

He also said the system of policing driven by the collaborating efforts of both police and local community to provide sustainable security to the society is called beat policing.

With officer in charge of Sadar Police Station Khan M. Shahriar in the chair, the inaugural function was also addressed, among others, by additional police super Abdullah Al Faruk, additional police super, B-Circle, Moynul Haque and ward councilor Younus Ali Shahin.
