DHAKA, July 29, 2018 (BSS) – At least two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin
Cantonment School were killed and 10 others critically injured as a bus hit
them on Airport Road near Radisson hotel in the city today.

The deceased were identified as Diya Akter Mim and Abdul Karim, Assistant
Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic North Zone Shachin
Maulik told BSS.

The injured people were taken to Kurmitola General Hospital, police
sources said.

The accident took place in the area while a bus of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan
ran over a group of students when they were standing beside the road, leaving
the duo dead on the spot, eyewitnesses said.

The driver and helper of the bus were taken to the police custody from the
spot, the police sources said.

Students and general people protested the accident and vandalised several
vehicles on the road blocking traffic movement for over an hour following the
accident.

Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan today expressed grave concern over the
accident and said the responsible people for the accident must be punished.

“Punishment will be given as per their offence and there is no scope to
oppose the punishment,” the minister told journalists at his ministry office
after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing ceremony.
