114 more reported Covid-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 18, 2021 (BSS) – One-hundred and 14 more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive at two laboratories today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising speedily in recent weeks.

“The 114 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 30.32 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

“The infection rate continues rising rapidly in all eight districts of Rangpur division deteriorating the overall Covid-19 situation in recent weeks,” said Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 40.16 percent on Thursday, 31.68 percent on Wednesday, 30.18 percent on Tuesday, 30.77 percent on Monday, 29.02 percent on Sunday and 27.50 percent on Saturday last in the division.

Among the 114 new patients diagnosed today, 40 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 40 new patients include 23 from Rangpur, four from Kurigram, six from Lalmonirhat, two from Gaibandha and five from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS at 8:40 pm.

On the other hand, 74 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 74 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 65 from Dinajpur, five from Thakurgaon, one from Nilphamari and three from Panchagarh districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 21,632 as 114 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 21,632 patients stands at 5,381 in Rangpur, 883 in Panchagarh, 1,671 in Nilphamari, 1,274 in Lalmonirhat, 1,416 in Kurigram, 2,271 in Thakurgaon, 6,876 in Dinajpur and 1,860 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
