DHAKA, June 15, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader today said BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia started fake birthday celebration on August 15 in continuation of her party’s politics of vengeance that began with the assassination of Bangabandhu.

“Some persons’ date of birth in certificate is different from original one. But my question is to BNP leaders how can a person (Khaleda) have five dates of birth,” he said.

Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, was addressing the membership renewal and primary membership giving ceremony of Dhaka City South AL at Bangabandhu Avenue joining it virtually from his official residence her.

He said the celebration of fake birthday by cutting cake in a festive manner out of the blue on the most shocking day of the nation- the National Mourning Day- is a nasty example of BNP’s politics of vengeance and falsehood.

Mentioning that the confusion over Begum Khaleda Zia’s birthday should be removed, he said BNP must prove whether Khaleda Zia’s original birthday is on August 15 or not.

BNP started fake birthday celebration on August 15 after assuming power which is tantamount to disgracing the National Mourning Day, he said.

He said BNP has proven that the party founder Ziaur Rahman was involved with the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Turning to coronavirus situation, he said the developed countries are in severe troubles to keep the wheels of economy running while production system and growth rate all over the world are witnessing sluggishness in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.

Under the circumstances, Bangladesh attained better growth rate and the balanced system under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already been lauded in the international arena.

According to the Global Food Outlook-June 2021’ report published by United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Bangladesh has surpassed Indonesia in rice production amid the coronavirus crisis, he said.

The AL general secretary urged the party leaders and workers to remain united to take ahead the journey towards building a prosperous Bangladesh under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina.

“We will have to remain united to make the party well organized and strengthen the hands of Sheikh Hasina shunning all differences,” he said.

He urged the Dhaka City South AL leaders and workers to remain alert in member collection campaign as identified extortionists and criminals cannot be primary members.

A person cannot hold two posts by any means, he said.

AL Presidium Member and Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzaque, AL Joint General Secretary and Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni, Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam and Dhaka City South AL General Secretary Md Humayun Kabir addressed it, among others.

Dhaka City South AL President Abu Ahmed Mannafi chaired it.
