Narcotics case against businessman Nasir U Mahmood, four others

DHAKA, June 15, 20201 (BSS) – Five persons, including businessman Nasir U Mahmood and Tuhin Siddiqui Omi, who were arrested yesterday in their alleged connection with an attempted rape and murder case filed by film actress Pori Moni, were sued under Narcotics Control Act.

Additional deputy commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) told BSS that the case has been filed with the Airport Police Station.

Sub-Inspector (SI) Manik Kumar Sikder of DB’s Gulshan Zone filed the case last night as the detectives, during their drive, recovered drugs and alcohol yesterday afternoon.

Three others who were sued are: Lipi Akter, 18, Sumi Akter, 19, and Nazma Ameen Snigdha, 24.

Earlier, a team of detectives carried out a raid at a house in Uttara Sector-1 and arrested five people, including real estate businessman and former president of Uttara Club Limited Nasir U Mahmood, in alleged connection with an attempted rape and murder case filed by Pori Moni yesterday morning with Savar Police Station here.

Police also recovered local and foreign alcohol and 1,000 pieces of yaba during the raid.

Actress Pori Moni has earlier brought allegation of attempted rape and murder against six people including Nasir U Mahmood, Officer-in Charge (OC) Kazi Mainul Islam of Savar police station told journalists.

Before that, she brought the allegations in a Facebook post without naming the suspect.

Later, this film artist also held a media briefing at her Gulshan residence late on Sunday, with naming the businessman as her prime attacker.

The OC said a written complaint was filed with the Rupnagar police station at Mirpur in the capital first.

But, he said, as he incident occurred in Savar area, the complaint was transferred to Savar police station and lodged as a case here.

Pori Moni alleged that Nasir and another businessman named Omi wanted to rape and kill her.
