“The government is preparing to address this challenge by forming a sector-based sub-committee. There will be a representative of Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Going beyond the conventional work, the FBCCI has a role to play in modernizing the trade sector,” he said.

The minister said this while paying a courtesy call on the newly elected FBCCI Board of Directors, led by its President Md Jashim Uddin, at the secretariat in the city, said a press release.

During the meeting, Tipu Munshi said the government is making efforts to sign the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) or Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) to increase trade facilities with different countries.

He said the export trade should not depend only on the ready-made garment industry.
