84 more test positive for Covid-19 in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, June 11, 2021 (BSS) – Eighty-four more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (Covid-19) positive at two laboratories today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues rising hurriedly during the last few days.

“The 84 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples at two Covid-19 Laboratories in the division at the infection rate of 22.34 percent today,” Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said.

Earlier, the daily infection rates were 26.04 percent on Thursday, 31.25 percent on Wednesday, 32.03 percent on Tuesday, 28.79 percent on Monday, 23.98 percent on Sunday and 23.66 percent on Saturday last in the division.

Among the 84 new patients diagnosed today, 34 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 34 new patients include 14 from Rangpur, 11 from Kurigram, eight from Lalmonirhat and one from Gaibandha districts,” Principal of RpMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told at 7 pm.

On the other hand, 50 other new infected patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the Covid-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 50 newly infected Covid-19 patients include 38 from Dinajpur, 10 from Thakurgaon and two from Nilphamari districts,” said Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain.

Focal Person of Covid-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS that the number of Covid-19 patients climbed to 20,078 as 84 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of total 20,078 patients currently stands at 5,203 in Rangpur, 855 in Panchagarh, 1,612 in Nilphamari, 1,167 in Lalmonirhat, 1,299 in Kurigram, 1,904 in Thakurgaon, 6,226 in Dinajpur and 1,802 in Gaibandha of the division,” he said.
