President asks DNCC mayor to take steps to remove water-logging

DHAKA, June 10, 2021 (BSS) – President M Abdul Hamid today asked Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam to take effective steps to reduce water-logging problems during the the monsoon.

The head of the state came up with the directive as Mayor Atiqul Islam called on him at the Bangabhaban here this evening.

As the main responsibility of city corporation is to ensure civic services, Hamid said, adding the city corporation has to play a key role in building Dhaka city as a planned one and take and implement plans accordingly.

The President said specific plans need to be adopted along with raising public awareness to deal with the current Corona situation, besides keeping the city clean.

During the meeting, the mayor apprised the President of various activities undertaken for the development of Dhaka North City Corporation.

Atiqul also briefed the President about the eviction of illegal structures in the DNCC area and the recovery of occupied water bodies and canals.

“Besides, the DNCC mayor highlighted the various schemes adopted to serve the citizens, including efforts to control the mosquito menace in the city,” the press secretary added.

President’s Office Secretary Sampad Barua, Military Secretary Major General SM Salah Uddin Islam, Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin and Secretary (attached) Wahidul Islam Khan were present there.
