Stocks maintain gaining streak

DHAKA, June 10, 2021 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) today
witnessed an upward trend like earlier as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap issues amid optimism.

DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 11.59 points or 0.19 per cent to settle at 6,066.64. The DSE 30 Index, comprising blue chips,
and the DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also gained 2.47 points to finish at 2,205.10 and 3.23 points closing at 1,299.48.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 2,6692.60 million on the country’s premier bourse which was Taka 27,005.55
million.

Gainers took a modest lead over the losers, as out of 367 issues traded, 149 closed green, 149 in the red and 9 remained unchanged on
the DSE trading floor.

Beximco topped the turnover chart, followed by Lanka Bangla Finance, Pioneer Insurance, Fortune, National Polymer and NFML.

Zaheen Spinning was the day’s best performer, posting a gain of 10 per cent while Dhaka Insurance was the worst loser, losing 11.50 percent.

The Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also ended higher with the CSE All Share Price Index – CASPI -advancing 69.80 points to settle at
17,585.34 and the Selective Categories Index – CSCX gaining 39.33 points to close at 10,594.42.

Of the issues traded, 175 advanced, 120 declined and 24 remained unchanged on the CSE.

The port city’s bourse traded 3.82 crore shares and mutual fund units with a turnover value of Taka 114.64 crore.
