More allocation for boosting human resources stressed

RAJSHAHI, March 31, 2017 (BSS) – Educationists here called for more budgetary allocation to education sector for boosting human resources.

They urged for special budgetary allocation to promote technical and vocational education for transforming the youths into competent manpower.

Channel I arranged the pre-budget discussion at Shaheed Mamun Mahmud Police Line School and College playground in the city today.

Chairman of Rajshahi Education Board Prof Abdul Kalam Azad, Principal of Rajshahi College Prof Habibur Rahman, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education ad ICT) Parvej Raihan, District Education Officer Rafiqul Islam and Principal of Rajshahi Education Board Model School and College Prof Taifur Rahman took part in the open discussion. Director of Channel I Shaikh Siraj moderated the discussion.

More than 300 teachers and students from various educational institutions took part in the meeting.

They viewed there are enormous resources and potentialities like sustainable agriculture and manpower to make the nation self-dependent. They added political commitment and collective efforts are needed to transform the dream into reality.

The participants mentioned that the budget should be pro-people and
welfare-oriented so that it could bring economic emancipation of the people in general.

They underscored the need for giving priority to agriculture, food security and agro-based industries in the budget for Rajshahi region.
