DHAKA,May 29, 2021 (BSS)- Dr Md Anwar Hossain, a retired Professor of Dhaka University’s Mathematics Department, has passed away at the age of 77.
Anwar, also former Professor of University Grant Commission (UGC), breathed his last at his home in the city around 8.45 pm on Thursday after suffering from old-age complications, said Mathematics department Professor Md Shahidul Islam.
After Jumu’ah prayer, his Namaz-E-Janaza was held at the premises of Dhaka University central mosque and later, he was buried at Azimpur graveyard, he added.
He is survived by his wife, a son, friends and a host of well wishers to mourn his death.
In a condolence message, Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Akhtaruzzaman expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of the eminent Professor.
Professor Hossain was a fellow of Bangladesh Sciences Academy and Senior Associate of International Centre for Theoretical Physics in Italy.
He also was an honorary fellow of Australian Institute of High Energetic Materials since October 2011.
