Prof Moshtaque Hossain RMU’s new VC

DHAKA, May 27, 2021 (BSS) – Dr AZM Moshtaque Hossain (Tuhin), a retired professor of surgery department of Dhaka Medical College, has been appointed as the new vice-chancellor (VC) of Rajshahi Medical University (RMU) for four-year term.

Medical Education and Family Welfare Division under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a notification here today to this end.

It said in line with the approval of the President and Chancellor, Dr Moshtaque Hossain has been appointed as per the section 12 (1) of Rajshahi Medical University Act, 2016.

The order will be effective from the date of this joining.

He will get equivalent salary-allowances he drew before his retirement from the government service.

Prof Moshtaque Hossain, the third son of Dr MA Kashem, former parliament member and MNA of the then Madaripur (now Shariatpur), organiser of the Liberation War and Awami League leader, hails from Fatejangapur village of Naria upazila in Shariatpur district.

His lone sister, two elder brothers and wife are also physicians.

Prof Moshtaque Hossain obtained MBBS degree from Rajshahi Medical College.
