3,44,082 get second dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Rangpur

RANGPUR, May 18, 2021 (BSS) – The number of citizens who got the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine reached 3,44,082 as 7,841 more people were inoculated with the jab today in Rangpur division.

Health officials said the 7,841 citizens, who were inoculated with the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine today, include 4,645 male and 3,196 female, of all eight districts in the division.

“The total of 3,44,082 second dose recipient citizens, including 2,21,129 male and 1,22,953 female, previously got the first dose at least two months ago,” Divisional Director (Health) Dr Md Ahad Ali told BSS.

The district-wise break-up of the second dose recipient 3,44,082 citizens stands at 72,469 in Rangpur, 28,213 in Panchagarh, 46,193 in Nilphamari, 25,789 in Lalmonirhat, 29,298 in Kurigram, 35,603 in Thakurgaon, 72,890 in Dinajpur and 33,637 in Gaibandha.

Meanwhile, none was vaccinated with the first dose of the jab since April 26 last in Rangpur division where the total number of citizens who got the first dose of the jab remained steady at 5,96,943.

The district-wise break-up of the first dose recipient 5,96,943 citizens stands at 1,68,569 in Rangpur, 44,498 in Panchagarh, 76,727 in Nilphamari, 37,344 in Lalmonirhat, 46,128 in Kurigram, 49,134 in Thakurgaon, 1,11,667 in Dinajpur and 62,876 in Gaibandha.

After taking the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RpMCH) vaccination centre today, elderly citizens Aminul Haque and Nasrine Begum said that they were feeling normal without side effects.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said vaccination of citizens with the second dose of the jab continues in the division.

“Everyone must abide by the health directives and hygiene rules and wear masks while remaining outside even after taking the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to remain safe and control further spread of the deadly virus in the division.
