People thronged airport wishing to discover Bangabandhu’s existence in Sheikh Hasina: Amu

DHAKA, May 16, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League Advisory Council Member and Spokesperson of 14-Party Alliance Amir Hossain Amu today said presence of people made the airport a human sea on May 17 in 1981 as they thronged there ignoring inclement weather when Sheikh Hasina returned home after a long exile.

“The people from all strata had thronged the airport with a desire of finding existence of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s entity in his daughter (now Prime Minister) Sheikh Hasina,” he said in a video message marking the homecoming day of AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to be observed tomorrow.

On the occasion of Sheikh Hasina’s Homecoming Day, Amu on behalf of the 14-party wished long life and prosperity of Bangabandhu’s daughter.

Noting that after the assassination of Bangabandhu, the spirit of the Liberation War was ruined, the veteran AL leader said after assuming the state power, Ziaur Rahman established a reign of terror in the country by depoliticizing the politics, making intra party factions among political parties and assassinating the character of politicians.

Returning to the country in this unfavorable situation, Sheikh Hasina has brought the country on the path of development and progress by dedicating herself to the struggle to restore democracy, Amu added.

“Following the footsteps of Father of the Nation, his daughter Sheikh Hasina has taken the country to the highway of development and transformed Bangladesh into a developing country from the least developed one,” he categorically said.

In his speech, the 14-party alliance spokesperson highlighted different development projects, including Metrorail, Padma Bridge, Rooppur Nuclear Power Project, Matar Bari and Payra Deep Seaport, Dhaka Elevated Expressway and Karnafuli Tunnel, being implemented under the AL government.

He said Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina has been running the state for three consecutive terms while these development progresses are the result of Sheikh Hasina’s return to home.

Mentioning that Bangladesh has come out of the culture of impunity with the bold steps of the Prime Minister, Amu said Sheikh Hasina has held the trials of Bangabandhu killing and war crimes and settled the issues of enclave problem and maritime boundary dispute.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s courageous and timely decision has made it possible to deal with two catastrophic floods even amid the corona situation, saving the country from famine, the AL leader said.

“If (however) we had followed the instructions of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from the very beginning of the outbreak of coronavirus, our losses would have been much lower,” Amu added.
