Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated abiding by health directives in Rangpur

RANGPUR, May 14, 2021 (BSS) – Eid-ul-Fitr, the greatest religious festivity of the Muslims, was celebrated here today with due religious solemnity amid favourable climatic conditions in the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Earlier, the district administration, Rangpur City Corporation and Islamic Foundation took steps to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in the city and across the district abiding by the health directives in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Officials of the district administration and Islamic Foundation here said the Muslims offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers and munajats at around 6,000 mosques across the district especially seeking respite from the coronavirus pandemic for the humanity.

As per directives of the government, the Muslim devotees offered Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at different mosques across the district maintaining physical distancing, wearing masks and abiding by the health directives.

Following instructions of the Islamic Foundation and local administrations, arrangements of hand sanitizers were made at the entrances of mosques and no congregations were arranged in the Eidgahs of the district.

Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Wahhab Miah, Mayor of Rangpur Mostafizar Rahman Mostafa, Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Abdul Alim Mahmud, Deputy Commissioner Md. Asib Ahsan, politicians and high officials participated in the main congregation at Kachari Bazar Court Jam-e-Mosque at 8:30 am.

Khatib of Rangpur Court Jam-e-Mosque Alhaj Moulana Hafizur Rahman conducted the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers and delivered sermons in the mosque before offering special munajats.

President of district Awami League (AL) Mamtaz Uddin, Ahmed, its General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Razu, city AL President Shafiur Rahman Shafi, leaders of AL and its associate bodies offered the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at different mosques.

The biggest Eid-ul-Fitr congregation of the district was held at Rangpur Keramotia Jam-e-Mosque strictly maintaining physical distance and abiding by the health directives and hygiene rules in the city at 9 am.

Besides, the Eid congregations were held at Dhap Lalkuthi Baitul Nur Jam-e-Mosque, Carmichael College Jam-e-Mosque, Radhaballav Takwa Jam-e-Mosque, Police Lines Jam-e-Mosque at 8 am and Ashrafia Jam-e-Mosque between 8 am and 9 am.

Besides, Eid-ul-Fitr congregations were held at Nasirabad Ekramia Jam-e-Mosque, Senpara Jam-we-Mosque, Kamarpara Kutubia Jam-e-Mosque, Kamal Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Pakarmatha Jam-e-Mosque, Bahar Kachna Jam-e-Mosque, Dhap Mohammadpur Jam-e-Mosque between 8 am 9:30 am in the city.

Besides, the Muslim devotees participated in the Eid-ul-Fitr congregations maintaining physical distance, wearing masks and abiding by the health directives at the mosques at all eight upazila headquarters and rural areas between 8 am and 10:30 am.

The Musollis offered special munajats seeking divine blessings for eternal peace of departed souls of their relatives, respite from the coronavirus pandemic and continued peace and prosperity of the country, its people, Muslim Ummah and whole humanity.

Marking the occasion, Rangpur City Corporation decorated the main streets and road islands in the city with the national flags and colourful miniature flags and banners adorned with Eid Mubarak.

The national flag was hoisted atop government, semi-government, autonomous and private buildings and improved diets served among inmates of hospitals, jails, shishu paribars, orphanages and vagrant welfare centres across the district.
