DHAKA, May 11, 2021 (BSS) – Awami League Joint-General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim today demanded for bringing to justice those who carry out arson attacks, spread rumors and do evil politics in the name of religion and who financed the evil acts.

He said this while addressing as the chief guest an Eid gift distribution ceremony at a community center at Bangshal in old part of the city.

Under the initiative of Dhaka City South’s 32 number ward unit of AL, councillors and KP Ghosh Trust Uttar Panchayet Committee, Nasim distributed Eid gifts among 500 distressed people on behalf of the prime minister.

Nasim said BNP-Jammat-Hefajat do evil politics by pushing people in trouble while they do not stand by people in their need.

He said BNP incites religious extremism, does evil politics and extends support to those who want to do evil politics.

Mentioning that the clique wants to take political advantage by using mosques and religion, he urged all to remain alert about the evil politicians.

The AL joint general secretary said those who cannot accept Bangladesh upholding the spirit of Liberation War, they take money and wicked suggestions from various evil forces.

Patrons and financers of evil politics should not be spared, he said.

About BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s illness, Nasim said on humanitarian grounds, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina brought the scope for Khaleda to receive treatment staying at her residence.

She could not be allowed to go aboard for treatment as there is no such scope under law, he said, adding that now there is only option for sending her abroad if the court allows it.

“We want her (Khaleda’s) highest treatment and wish her recovery from illness. I think highest treatment facilities can be ensured in the country,” he said.

Turning to coronavirus situation, he said the entire world is reeling under the spike of coronavirus and Bangladesh is not beyond it.

AL will continue its relief distribution programme as long as the crisis exists, he said.

Dhaka City South unit of AL general secretary Md Humayun Kabir, Dhaka-7 lawmaker Haji Selim, 32 number ward councillor MA Mannan, Swechchhasebak League vice-president Kazi Shahidullah Liton, Swechchhasebak League Dhaka City South president Kamrul Hasan Ripon and general secretary Tareq Sayeed were present, among others.
