14km rail track alignment completed

DHAKA, May 5, 2021 (BSS) – Authority of the metro rail has completed 14 kilometer out of 23.96-km rail track alignment with track plinth casting track on viaduct from Uttara to Agargaon.

“We have installed 10.50 km rail line on the viaduct and 11 railway lines inside the workshop shed in the depot area were completed,” Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Ltd (DMTCL) MAN Siddique told BSS.

He said 19 ballasted rail lines out of 19 inside the stabilizing shed and in the adjoining yard have been completed, while 2350 out of 2678 rail joint welding of the main line on the viaduct were finished.

Siddique said the first metro train set reached to metro rail depot in Dhaka’s Diabari on April 23 with a special initiative, adding, “We will carry out functional and integrated test of the metro train set in phases.”

He said after functional and integrated test, test run will be carried out inside the depot and on the viaduct and then a trial run will also be carried out.

The second set of metro train will reach at the depot through Mongla port on June 16, the managing director added.

According to the project details, the overall progressing of the MRT Line-6 from Uttara to Motijheel is 63.26 percent, while progress from Uttara to Agargaon phase rose to 84.79 percent.

Besides, the overall physical progress of the second phase from Agargaon to Motijheel reached 59.78 percent, while progress of electrical and mechanical system and procurement of rolling stock (rail coaches) & depot equipment is 54.40 percent.

It said construction of sub structure of all stations of the first phase and construction of concourse roof of Uttara Uttar, Uttara Center, Uttara Dakhhin and Pallabi stations have been finished. Construction works for concourse roof of Mirpur-11, Mirpur-10, Kazipara, Shewrapa and Agargaon stations are going on, it added.

Meanwhile, platforms construction of Uttara Uttar, Uttara Center, Uttara Dakhhin and Pallabi stations have been completed, while Mirpur-11, Kazipara and Shewrapa stations are going on.

The DMTCL instructed all workers and experts to follow the health guidelines strictly during the Covid-19 pandemic,” the managing director said.

He said in order to deal with the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, a 10-bed isolation center (Field Hospital) at the Gabtoli construction site and a 14-bed isolation center (Field Hospital) at Uttara Ponchoboti construction yard were constructed.
