Maleque for following health rules to prevent 3rd wave of COVID-19

DHAKA, May 2, 2021 (BSS) – Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque today reiterated his call to follow health rules strictly to combat third wave of coronavirus as the country is witnessing a sharp rise in Covid-19 infections from early March this year.

“We have successfully handled the first wave of COVID-19…. the country is facing second wave of the virus due to negligence of health code as well as rampant movement of the people,” he told a function at Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) here, an official release said.

Secretary of Health Ministry Lokman Hossain Miah, Secretary of Health Service Division Md Ali Nur, Chairman of Community Clinic Prof Dr. Ali Syed Modasser, Awami League health affairs secretary Dr Rokeya Sultana, President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) DR Mostofa Jalal Mohiuddin and President of Swadhinata Chikitshak Parishad (SWACHIP) Dr Iqbal Arsenal, among others, were present at the function with DGHS Director General Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammad Khurshid Alam in the chair.

DGHS ADG Prof Dr Nasima Sultana presented the keynote paper at the programme.

The health minister warned repetition of negligence towards following health rules may invite third wave of coronavirus. “So, we all have to be careful for maintaining health codes to halt the spread of the deadly virus,” he added .
