51 more reported COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, April 13, 2021 (BSS) – Fifty-one more people were diagnosed with coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today in Rangpur division where the infection rate continues showing a promptly rising trend in recent weeks.

Health officials said 51 new cases were reported after diagnosing 376 samples of all eight districts in Rangpur division at the two COVID-19 laboratories in the division today at the daily infection rate of 13.56 percent.

Among the 51 new patients diagnosed today, 40 were reported positive after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The 40 new patients include 20 from Rangpur, eight each from Kurigram and Gaibandha, three from Lalmonirhat and one from Nilphamari districts,” Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonigfht.

On the other hand, 11 new patients were reported after diagnosing 188 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur today.

“The 11 new patients include six from Dinajpur, three from Nilphamari and two from Panchagarh districts,” Principal of MARMC Professor Dr. Syed Nazir Hossain told BSS after completing the testing process at 8:25 pm.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui told BSS tonight that the number of COVID-19 patients sharply reached 17,040 as 51 new positive cases were reported today from across the division.

“The district-wise break up of 17,040 patients stands at 4,359 in Rangpur, 818 in Panchagarh, 1,461 in Nilphamari, 1,012 in Lalmonirhat, 1,083 in Kurigram, 1,597 in Thakurgaon, 5,109 in Dinajpur and 1,601 in Gaibandha,” Dr Siddiqui said.
