Curtain of 9th Bangladesh Games to be raised tomorrow

DHAKA, March 31, 2021 (BSS)- The curtain of Bangabandhu 9th Bangladesh Games, named after Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, will be raised tomorrow (Thursday) at Bangabandhu National Stadium (BNS).

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to inaugurate the mega domestic sports festival as the chief guest from virtual platform at 7.15 pm.

On the occasion of the inauguration of Bangladesh Games, the gate of BNS will be opened for the spectators from 3 pm.

The main program will start with the recitation from the holy Quran at 5.30 pm. After that, the significant successes of sports in Bangladesh will be shown on the screen through audio visual exhibition.

The national anthem will be played at 6.45 pm. The national anthem will be followed by a audio visual exhibition featuring the remarkable achievements of the country’s sportsmen.

The players and officials will enter the field at 6:52 pm. Country’s ace archer Roman Sana will read the oath of the Games.

BOA Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza will deliver his welcome address at 7:08 pm while BOA president and chairman of the Games organizing committee, Army Chief General Aziz Ahmed will deliver his speech.

Besides, State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Zahid Ahsan Russell, MP, will also deliver his speech.

Prominent golfer Siddikur Rahman and SA Games double-gold medallist swimmer Mahfuza Akter Shila will ignite the torch of the Games after virtual declaration of the games opening by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at 7.15 pm.

There will be a mascot parade at the end of the ceremony, an exhibition on Bangabandhu and Bangladesh and a stage show. The opening ceremony will end at 8:30 pm with laser shows and fireworks.

The BOA is organizing the games marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and golden jubilee of country’s Independence.

Some 5,300 sportsmen from all across the country will compete in 31 disciplines of sports for 1271 medals including 378 gold at twenty nine venues of seven district across the country.
