RAJSHAHI, March 31, 2021(BSS)- A total of 102 more people have tested positive for COVID-19 in six districts of the division in the last 24 hours till Tuesday, climbing the number of infections to 26,778.
The new daily infection figure shows a significant high compared to the previous day’s figure of 77, said the health department sources.
“Among the infected patients, 24,773 have, so far, been cured from the lethal virus with 32 new recoveries during the time,” the sources said, adding that a total of 3,094 infected patients are now undergoing treatment at designated hospitals here.
Besides, all the positive cases for COVID-19 have, so far, been brought under necessary treatment while 6,751 were kept in isolation units of hospitals for institutional supervision. Of them, 6,030 have by now been released.
On the other hand, 18 more people have been sent to home and institutional quarantine afresh while 55 others were released in the division over the last 24 hours till 8 am today.
The number of deaths from the disease stands at 409 including 261 in Bogura and 56 in Rajshahi with no fatality reported afresh today, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Divisional Director of Health.
Of the total new positive cases, the highest 38 were detected in Rajshahi including 35 in its city, followed by 29 in Bogura, 11 in Sirajganj, 10 in Chapainawabganj, eight in Joypurhat and six in Pabna districts.
With the new detected cases, the district-wise break-up of the COVID-19 cases now stands at 6,483 in Rajshahi including 4,965 in its city, 844 in Chapainawabganj, 1,691 in Naogaon, 1,302 in Natore, 1,402 in Joypurhat, 10,382 in Bogura, 2,869 in Sirajganj and 1,805 in Pabna.
A total of 66,948 people have, so far, been kept under quarantine since March 10 last year to prevent community transmission of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
Of them, 65,819 have, by now, been released as they were given clearance certificates after completing their respective 14-day quarantine period.
Meanwhile, a total of 5,92,718 people have been vaccinated for Covid-19 in all eight districts of Rajshahi division till Monday last since the countrywide vaccination programme began on February 7.
Of them, 9,509 people including 4,005 females were inoculated on Monday, said Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder.
He also said 1,847 people including 735 females received vaccines in Rajshahi, 997 including 388 females in Chapainawabganj, 352 including 110 females in Natore, 2,876 including 1,275 females in Naogaon Monday.
Besides, a total of 1,051 persons including 467 females got vaccines in Pabna, 628 including 258 females in Sirajganj, 1,175 including 565 females in Bogura, 344 including 119 females in Joypurhat and 239 including 88 females in Rajshahi city on the day, he added.
