Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait holds virtual discussion on Golden Jubilee

DHAKA, March 28, 2021 (BSS) – The Embassy of Bangladesh in Kuwait today organized a virtual discussion on zoom platform titled “Golden Jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh: A thriving Nation” to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the National Day of Bangladesh.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal graced the event as chief guest while Ambassador Ali Sulaiman Al Sayeed, assistant foreign minister for Asian Affairs, the State of Kuwait was the guest of honour.

Former Bangladesh Bank Governor Dr. Atiur Rahman, also the “Bangabandhu Chair” Professor of Dhaka University, was the key-note speaker at the discussion.

Major General Md Ashikuzzaman, Ambassador of Bangladesh in Kuwait moderated the discussion session, said a Ministry press release.

The Finance Minister in his speech paid deep homage to the Father of the Nation, his family members, three million martyrs, and all the freedom fighters for their extraordinary contributions and great sacrifices during the Liberation War in 1971.

He highlighted the development of Bangladesh made under the charismatic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Kamal also invited the foreign guests to visit Bangladesh at their convenient time.

During the program, the congratulatory video messages of Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam were screened.

Ambassador Ali Sulaiman Al Sayeed, Assistant Foreign Minister for Asian Affairs, State of Kuwait, in his remarks expressed his warm greetings on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.

He conveyed his sincere thanks to the Ambassador of Bangladesh for organizing such a fruitful online discussion session.

During his speech, he also mentioned that the existing friendly relationship between Kuwait and Bangladesh will further be strengthened in the days to come.

Dr. Atiur Rahman, the key-note speaker in his speech, discussed the significance of the golden jubilee of Independence of Bangladesh as well as the foreign policy and relationship between Bangladesh and Kuwait.

He highlighted the contributions of Kuwait in Bangladesh’s socio- economic development through Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development.

Dr Atiur also focused the economic development, graduation of Bangladesh from LDC to developing country and recent development in various sector of Bangladesh.

In the open forum segment of the discussion session, the Ambassadors of India, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Nepal in Kuwait, Deputy Chief of Mission of Senegal and Yemen in Kuwait conveyed their heartfelt greetings and warm felicitations on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and National Day of Bangladesh.

Around 30 participants including Ambassadors in Kuwait, Bangladesh Ambassador / High Commissioner abroad, senior government officials, eminent personalities, personnel of local media and member of Bangladeshi Community in Kuwait have actively participated in the discussion session.
