Bangabandhu’s 7 March Speech inspires nation for independence: Mozammel

DHAKA, March 6, 2021 (BSS) – Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque today said the historic 7 March Speech of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman had inspired the nation to wage Liberation War for making Bangladesh independent one.

“After the historic speech of Bangabandhu on March 7 in 1971, the freedom-loving Bangalees started taking preparations for building resistance across the country while the first resistance war started against the Pakistani occupation forces at Joydebpur on March 19,” he said.

The minister made the remarks while he was addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club (JPS) here, marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Historic 7 March Speech Day, said a press release.

National committee for the celebration of the golden jubilee of the first Resistance Day in association with Bangladesh Journalists Rights Forum (BJRF) and Gazipur Union of Journalists organized the discussion.

Noting that every incident of the Bangalee nation on the way of getting independence is important to the history, Mozammel said, all should work together irrespective of party affiliation to write the national history portraying the struggle of independence and scenarios of the great Liberation War in the beginning period at the grassroots level.

Recalling the contributions of local and foreign media and journalists to Liberation War, he emphasized on proper presentation of all the information and events related to the War of Liberation before the nation.

Convener of the national committee for the celebration of the golden jubilee of the first Resistance Day and Professor of Dhaka University (DU) Geography and Environment Department Dr Hafiza Khatun presided over the discussion.

Former information adviser to the Prime Minister and Editor of the Daily Observer Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Editor of the Bangladesh News and BJRF President Bir Muktijoddha Azizul Islam Bhuiyan, one of the organizers of the 19th March Bir Muktijoddha Professor Abdul Bari, President of the Dhaka District Bar Association Advocate Abdul Baten, Throwball Association General Secretary Bir Muktijoddha Shamim Al Mamun, Jatiya Sramik Federation President Shamim Ara, one of the student organizers of March 19 Abul Hossain Mandal, Women Journalists Association President Nasima Akter Soma, Journalist Manik Lal Ghosh and former additional secretary of the Information Ministry Azharul Haque addressed the discussion, among others.

Member of the JPC management committee and a Liberation War researcher Ayub Bhuiyan presented the keynote paper at the discussion conducted by the chief coordinator of national committee for the celebration of the golden jubilee of the first Resistance Day Ataur Rahman.
