Six more tested COVID-19 positive in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 5, 2021 (BSS) – Six more people were tested coronavirus (COVID-19) positive today raising the total number of infected patients to 15,861 in all eight districts of Rangpur division.

Health officials said the six new cases were reported after diagnosing 225 samples at the daily infection rate of 2.67 percent in the division.

Among the six new patients diagnosed, three were reported positive after diagnosing 131 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at Rangpur Medical College (RpMC) in Rangpur city.

“The three new patients include two from Rangpur and one from Kurigram districts,” Chief of the Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and Principal of RPMC Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu told BSS tonight.

Meanwhile, three new patients hailing from Nilphamari district were reported positive after diagnosing 94 samples at the COVID-19 Laboratory at M Abdur Rahim Medical College (MARMC) in Dinajpur.

Focal Person of COVID-19 and Assistant Director (Health) for Rangpur division Dr. ZA Siddiqui said the number of COVID-19 patients rose to 15,861 as six new positive cases were reported from across the division today.

“The district-wise break up of total 15,861 patients stands at 4,051 in Rangpur, 795 in Panchagarh, 1,338 in Nilphamari, 966 in Lalmonirhat, 1,021 in Kurigram, 1,513 in Thakurgaon, 4,712 in Dinajpur and 1,465 in Gaibandha,” Dr. Siddiqui added.
