HT Imam was mentally young: Hasan

DHAKA, March 4, 2021 (BSS) – Expressing profound shock at the death of Prime Minister’s Political Advisor HT Imam, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said Imam was mentally young in spite of being a senior citizen.

“We could not imagine he (HT Imam) will leave us in this way. His health condition was good and he continued his works during the COVID-19 situation also,” he told reporters after paying tributes to HT Imam by placing a wreath on his coffin at the Central Shaheed Minar.

State Minister for Information Dr. Murad Hasan, Deputy Publicity and Publication Affairs Secretary of AL Aminul Islam Amin and AL leader Balaram Poddar accompanied the information minister during the placing of wreaths.

Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary, said, “I met him few days ago. He was young mentally.”

The minister said he (HT Imam) was the chairman of sub-committee on publicity and ‘I worked with him as publicity secretary’ for five years. There are very few intelligent and hardworking people like him, he added.

He said HT Imam had worked in unison with the party and he worked to bring the party to power before the 2008 elections and the subsequent times when disaster struck the party.

Hasan said those who have not seen his wise advice and various steps closely, as an advisor to the Prime Minister, will not understand. He was the first cabinet secretary to the government of Bangabandhu, he added.

He said his demise of HT Imam is an irreparable lose to the country, the government and the party as well.

The minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

Hasan took part in the second Namaz-e-Janaza of HT Imam at Azad Mosque in city’s Gulshan area after Asr prayers.
