2,92,738 get COVID-19 vaccines in Rangpur division

RANGPUR, March 1, 2021 (BSS) – The total number of coronavirus (COVID-19)
vaccine recipients rose to 2,92,738 with immunisation of more 9,196 people
today at different government hospitals in the division.

“The 9,196 citizens– 5,390 males and 3,806 females– who were inoculated
with the COVID-19 vaccines today in the division,” Rangpur Divisional
Director (Health) Dr. Md. Ahad Ali told BSS.

The total 2,92,738 citizens immunized, so far, with COVID-19 vaccines
include 1,88,296 males and 1,04,442 females of all eight districts in the
division.

“All of the vaccine recipients are leading normal life without remarkable
side effects though 68 of them experienced temporary adverse events for a few
minutes since February 7 last in the division,” Dr. Ali said.

The district-wise break-up of total 2,92,738 vaccine recipients stands at
57,426 in Rangpur, 26,340 in Panchagarh, 38,680 in Nilphamari, 21,597 in
Lalmonirhat, 25,844 in Kurigram, 32,184 in Thakurgaon, 63,142 in Dinajpur and
27,525 in Gaibandha of the division.

“Since launching of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign from February 7 last,
hundreds of registered citizens are rushing to the vaccination centers daily
with huge eagerness to take the vaccines,” the health official added.

Chief of Divisional Coronavirus Service and Prevention Task Force and
Principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr. AKM Nurunnobi Lyzu said
excellent management has been ensured at government hospitals for immunising
people in the division.

The vaccine recipients are feeling no notable side effects since launching
of the vaccination campaign from February 7 last in Rangpur division and they
are leading quite a normal life.

“Common people should abide by the health directives and wear masks while
remaining outside to bring down the COVID-19 infection rate to the zero level
in the division and the country as a whole,” Dr. Lyzu added.
