DHAKA, March 1, 2021 (BSS) – A Dhaka court has acquitted Mohammad Erfan
Salim, son of Hazi Salim, MP, of a case filed against him under Narcotics
Control Act.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Hakim Shahinur Rahman passed the order as
the court could not find Erfan Salim, also a suspended ward councillor,
guilty during a short hearing.

On January 5, Inspector of Chawkbazar Police Station Mohammad Delwar
Hossen submitted the final probe report of the case before the court
recommending his release.

Erfan was arrested after the case was filed against him on charges of
attacking Lt Wasif Ahmed Khan of Bangladesh Navy in the capital’s Dhanmondi
area on October 25 last year.

Then, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted an overnight raid at Erfan
father’s house at Bara Katara in old town. Then, a mobile court of RAB gave
Erfan one year jail for possessing liquor.
