JS body asks BJMC to resolve workers’ payment issue
DHAKA, Feb 28, 2021 (BSS) – The Standing Committee on Ministry of Labour
and Employment today recommended to Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation(BJMC)
to expedite the disposal of pending cases filed by the workers with a view to
hastening the payment of workers’ dues.
They came up with the recommendations at the 12th meeting of the Standing
Committee of the 11th National Parliament held at the Parliament with
committee chairman Md Mujibul Haque in the chair.
The committee expressed satisfaction over the ongoing works of setting up
projects of 6 district offices out of 13 and recommended to the ministry to
take immediate steps to establish offices in the remaining 7 districts.
They also expressed satisfaction over the modernization and strengthening
of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments.
The meeting also presented digital presentations of the ongoing development
projects of the concerned ministry and the committee recommended to the
ministry to complete the activities of the development projects within the
stipulated time.
During the meeting, committee member Shajahan Khan, MP, expressed
dissatisfaction over the submission of a report from the concerned ministry
related to creation of an unstable situation by two officials at the
Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments.
In continuation of that, committee member Shamsun Nahar has been entrusted
with the task of re-investigating the report.
At the beginning of the meeting, all martyred in the language movement were
remembered with solemn dignity through special prayers.
The committee members State Minister for Labour and Employment Begum
Monnujan Sufian and Md Nazrul Islam Chowdhury were also present there.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of The Ministry of Labour and
Employment, heads of various organizations and concerned officials of the
Ministry of Labour and Employment and the Parliament Secretariat.
