Humayun asks directors to stay in project areas

DHAKA, Feb 28, 2021 (BSS) – Industries Minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun today said the project directors would have to stay in their respective project areas and speed up the implementation process.

“The project execution should be progressed as per the guidelines for project implementation. Heads of departments or agencies should increase on-site inspection activities in the project area. The slow pace of project implementation during Covid-19 needs to be met by increasing the pace of work,” he said.

The industries minister said this while speaking at the chief guest at a meeting to review the progress of implementation of projects under the annual development program (ADP) for the fiscal year 2020-2021 at Industries Ministry conference room in the city, said a press release.

State Minister for Industries Kamal Ahmed Mojumder was the special guest while Industries Secretary KM Ali Azam presided over it.

Senior officials of the ministry and heads of various subordinate agencies and corporations attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that there are a total of 48 development projects in the annual development program of the Ministry of Industries in the fiscal year 2020-2021. Of these, 44 are investment projects, three are technical assistance and one is self-financed project.

The allocation for the projects is Taka 3,407.66 crore.

Kamal Ahmed Mojumder said the work of projects should be completed within the stipulated time maintaining the quality of work.

He underscored the need for increasing supervision of work on the project.

He urged all concerned to complete the construction work of buffer godowns to facilitate storage and distribution of fertilizers.
