All schools, colleges to reopen March 30

DHAKA, Feb 27, 2021 (BSS) – All primary, secondary and higher secondary level educational institutions across the country will reopen on March 30.

Education Minister Dipu Moni revealed the information at a press briefing at the secretariat here after holding an inter-ministerial meeting this evening, said an Education Ministry press release.

She said classes of fifth graders in primary level, and SCC and HSC examinees in secondary and higher secondary levels will be held in person daily (six days in a week) while classes of ninth and 11 graders will be held two days in a week.

The classes of the remaining primary, secondary and higher secondary level students will be held one day in a week, the education minister said, adding that the decision on resuming the academic activities in full swing and bringing back the pre-primary students to classrooms will be disclosed later after considering the overall situation.

Dipu Moni said after reopening the educational institutions, all should follow the health guidelines issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in a bid to slowdown the spread of COVID-19.

She also said steps will be taken to get all primary, secondary and higher secondary level teachers and employees vaccinated by March 30. However, all kinds of renovation works of the educational institutions should be completed by this time, the education minister added.

Agriculture Minster Muhammad Abdur Razzaque, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Information Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud and State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Md Zakir Hossain attended the meeting with Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni in the chair.

All educational institutions across the country have remained closed since March 17 following detection of the first Covid-19 case in the country on March 8.
