RANGPUR, Feb 27, 2021 (BSS) – Rangpur unit of Police Bureau of
Investigation (PBI) unearthed the motive of a clueless murder of a minor girl
and arrested her killer father making the best use of science and modern
technologies.

“A special PBI team arrested the killer father from Rasulpur Railway
Quarter at Syedpur in Nilphamari on Thursday, only 11 days after starting
investigation,” Superintendent of Police (SP) of Rangpur PBI ABM Jakir
Hossain told BSS this afternoon.

The arrested person is Nur Mohammad of village Jagda (Muktijoddha Para)
in Pirganj upazila of Thakurgaon district.

Earlier, police recovered body of Nurani Akhter Nupur, 8, daughter of
Nur from his residence at Rasulpur Railway Quarter in Syedpur upazila town on
April 3, 2020, when Nur claimed that Nupur committed suicide by hanging
herself.

An unnatural death case was filed in this connection with Saidpur police
station.

The post mortem report confirmed that the minor girl was strangled to
death.

After conducting investigation into the case for 10 months, Saidpur
Thana police could not unearth motive of the murder and failed to arrest
anybody in this connection.

Later, a Nilphamari court handed over the charge of investigation into
the case to Rangpur unit of PBI in mid-February.

After conducting an investigation into the case and comprehensively
interrogating Nur taking advantage of modern science and technologies, the
PBI investigation team led by its SP Jakir Hossain found that the girl was
strangled by her father.

“During interrogation, Nur admitted that Nupur requested him to give his
android mobile phone set to her on April 3, 2020 when Nupur called him a
bitch making him angry and he strangled her to death,” SP Jakir said.

The arrested person gave confessional statement under section 164 of the
Code of Criminal Procedure of 1898 when Investigation Officer of Rangpur PBI
Sub-inspector Nure Alam Siddique produced him before a Nilphamari court on
Friday.

“The court sent the arrested man to jail hajat,” SP Jakir said, adding
that the investigation into the case still continues.
