JANJIRA, Shariatpur, Sept 30, 2017 (BSS) – The biggest project in the country’s physical infrastructure sector, Padma Multipurpose Bridge, has become visible with installation of its first span this morning at the Janjira point in Shariatpur.
The span has been installed at 10:20 this morning between pear-37 and pear-38 of the mega bridge project.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader witnessed the historical installation event with Padma Bridge Project Director Shafiqul Islam and other high officials while thousands of enthusiastic onlookers gathered ashore the mighty Padma River to see their dream bridge getting a visible shape.
This is the first among the 41 spans to be installed for the 6.15 kilometers two-level bridge. On compellation, the bridge will have a four-lane highway on the upper level for motor vehicles and a single track railway on the lower level.
