Construction of 560 model mosques a rare example: Faridul Haque

ISLAMPUR, Jamalpur, Feb 19, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Religious Affairs M Faridul Haque Khan today said construction of 560 model mosques and Islamic cultural centers at a cost of Taka 9,000 crore throughout the country is a rare example.

“The government, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has set a rare example in the world history by building 560 model mosques and Islamic centers in every district and upazilas throughout the country,” he told a mass reception accorded to him at Pachabahola Jaitunnesa high school here this afternoon.

“It is beyond my knowledge that whether such huge number of mosques had been constructed in any other Muslim countries in the world expending such amount of public money,” he told the function arranged by Islampur Sadar union Awami League.

Chaired by Islampur Sadar Union Awami League President M Abdur Rashid Mondol, the function also was addressed, among others, by Islampur Upazila Chairman SM Jamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury Babul, former Upazila Chairman and valiant freedom fighter Abdul Bari Mondol, AL Islampur unit General Secretary Advocate Abdus Salam and Senior Vice-President Alhaz M Abdul Latif Sarker.

Even Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s contribution to the welfare of Islam is also unparallel in the history of Bangladesh, said the minister, adding that the prime minister has brought a tremendous change in the hajj management system by developing digital hajj management.

Pilgrims are accomplishing Saudi immigration from staying in Bangladesh, Haque added.
