DHAKA, Feb 18, 2021 (BSS) – Dhaka University (DU) former Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of noted historian Prof Dr ABM Mahmood, a retired professor of history department of the university.
In a condolence message, he said the nation has lost an eminent historian and devoted educationist at his death.
His death is an irreparable loss to the field of the country’s education and research in history, he added.
Prof Arefin, also chairman of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said Prof Mahmood had multifaceted contributions to uphold the spirit of the Liberation War in the country.
He conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Prof Dr ABM Mahmood passed away this evening while undergoing treatment at a city hospital.
