DHAKA, Feb 16, 2021 (BSS) – State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud
Chowdhury today said Ziaur Rahman patronised the killers of Father of the
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as he was one of the beneficiaries
of 15 August killing.
“Ziaur Rahman had nurtured the killers of Bangabandhu after his murder
along with most of his family members and he was the beneficiary of 15 August
killing,” he said.
The state minister was addressing as special guest a discussion titled
“Golden jubilee of independence in the birth centenary of Mujib” at Jatiya
Press Club here.
Bangladesh Gono Azadi League organised the discussion presided over by its
President Advocate SK Shikder.
Liberation War Affairs Minister of A K M Mozammel Haque addressed the
function as the chief guest, while former Disaster Management Minister and
Awami League Leader Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, State Minister for
Information Dr Md Murad Hassan, President of AL Dhaka south city unit Abu
Ahmed Mannafi, Joint-General Secretary Miraz Hossain and Dr. Nasir Uddin
Khan, among others, addressed the function.
Khalid said Zia turned the Indemnity Ordinance into a law to prevent trial
against Bangabandhu’s killers. He (Zia) also brought the killers of the
founding father of the nation to the parliament, the state minister added.
“The tenure of Zia’s rule is illegal and his all activities were against
the state as the High Court and Supreme Court declared the 5th amendment of
the constitution illegal.”
Khalid also said Zia nurtured the forces who were against the War of
Liberation. So, the Bir Uttam title of Zia should be cancelled. The proposal
of Jatiyo Muktijoddha Council for canceling Zia’s title is veracious.
